Quickly ascending beyond the traditional confines of instrumental rock, the trio boast a unique blend of precision and organic feel. The music they make appeals equally to fans of Tool, Dream Theater, and Charlie Hunter, audiences as diverse as they are dedicated. Steve Vai described the first album as “the future of creative, heavy virtuoso guitar playing.” The Aquarian wrote, “Abasi’s music has as much in common with Vai as it does Meshuggah, Victor Wooten or Allan Holdsworth.” Tosin enlisted Reyes to support the album live, and the pair’s creative guitar partnership persists. ![]() Modern Drummer put Garstka on the cover, a year before he sat in with NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers. Rolling Stone featured him in their “Young Guns” series. “His musical ideas are so creative, so colorful, and so unique relative to everything else going on in their general sphere of guitar-based music, that he just puts everyone to shame.” In one of his many appearances on their cover, Guitar World named him among the Guitarists of the Decade. “Tosin Abasi is probably, on some ‘objective’ level, one of the top ten guitarists of all time,” they wrote. The Chicago Tribune called Abasi “the closest thing prog-metal has to an Eddie Van Halen.” MetalSucks is similarly enthusiastic. Animals As Leaders began as a solo outlet for guitarist Tosin Abasi, whose creative partnership with classically trained guitarist / audio engineer Javier Reyes and Berklee-educated drummer Matt Garstka is built on a shared love of everything from fusion to technical death metal. The band’s diverse catalog plays like multiple seasons of a superb television series, the shows with consistent themes and characters throughout their runs which evolve without sacrificing their most essential elements. But ANIMALS AS LEADERS jettisoned the rules, limitations, and boundaries of conventional rock music from the start.Īrmed with palette-expanding eight-string guitars, rich synths, and pummeling percussive grooves, the trio is beloved by metalheads, aspiring virtuosos, jazz fanatics, and casual listeners alike. It might sound strange to associate “storytelling” with instrumental music. “As satisfying in their visceral kick as they are in dazzling displays of dexterity.” – Rolling Stone The President & CEO of Zenith, Aldo Magada, attended the first stage of the latest band's tour in San Diego on May 24, and you know you are part of the establishment when a former US President is among your greatest fans. We didn’t even play any car games with so much to see! On the way north to Riggins we drove through the Payette National Forest, enjoying the tree lined roads and mountain views. ![]() One thing that stood out to us on this trip, compared to other road trips we’ve taken, was the beauty of the drives. After our bellies were full, we swung back by the airport to pick up Alicia’s bag and started our Idaho road trip north towards Riggins. We dubbed Boise the “Orlando of the West” as the downtown areas are very similar. It was a nice way to kick things off with cold Idaho beers and world-famous Idaho potatoes in the form of french fries at Bittercreek Ale House. This gave us the perfect excuse to check out downtown Boise. Alicia’s bag didn’t make the connecting flight and we had to come back and pick it up later in the afternoon. We arrived early afternoon and checked out our trusty steed for the trip, a blue 2021 Hyundai Accent which we named Huckleberry (it’s bad luck not to name your car for a road trip), and we were off! Well not quite. I guess a lot of other people had the same idea for fun this summer. Boise was actually the only place we could find a rental car. We started our Idaho road trip from Boise to Glacier National Park in Montana with a stop in Riggins, Idaho. Day 1: Travel to Riggins, Idaho by way of Boise We do have some of the action from the movie, but it shouldn't ruin the film for anyone," he said. "We will have some of the same locations but none of the dialogue (LEGO characters do not speak, only grunt). Ellison smiled when asked about it but assured me that no details about the story line would be ruined. Plus we took the same slapstick humor from the films and just made more of it."Īs I said, the fourth movie is also included, so I was worried about spoiling my future enjoyment. We took the iconic movie settings and twisted them slightly to make them funnier. The humor from the movies really shines in LEGO form, which uses its blocky medium to put interesting spins on the tale. There are lengthy story-developing "cut scenes" and cinematics between the levels. Ellison said each scene has to be solvable for all ages, and the game teaches you what to do and where to look as it goes along. Said Ellison: "The exploration game play ties into the ideology of 'Pirates of the Caribbean.' Plus we wanted to make a distinctive change of pace between the levels, so you are treasure hunting in one level, and then fighting foes in the next."Įven on ship levels, players will need to go up into the rigging or down into the ship's belly to find all they need to find. Since the scenes are so big, it would be easy to get lost or frustrated without those helpers. Using Jack's compass helps discover the missing booty, but there are also sign postings to help players find key elements in the level. While the story mode only took me about nine hours, I barely collected 40% of all the items that could be found. "There is something always hidden to get." "Eight collectibles in each level and 10 ships in a bottle can be found," Ellison said. ![]() Puzzle clues and treasure are all over the place, waiting to be discovered. The game play is all about exploring the vast scenes in each level. "A lot of time went into making sure we got Jack's running right, his character right," Ellison said. And Jack's running style - arms straight out, waving frantically - is humorously well represented. Since the films' characters are so well known, he said the team wanted to make sure to include little details to help players relate to each character.įor example, Captain Barbossa is often seen with an apple in his hand. "It will point to things Jack can find and also helps point to things to solve puzzles in the game."Įllison said the settings are as iconic as they could be and the team tried to put the LEGO spin on the movies. "Jack's compass is really different from anything else we've done (with LEGOs)," Ellison said. Each character has a special ability that makes it unique from others, including Captain Jack Sparrow (portrayed in the films by Johnny Depp). Matt Ellison, associate producer at Traveller's Tales Games, said 70 characters can be unlocked and bought throughout the entire game. There were a few times when I couldn't see what item needed to be collected or got pushed off a narrow ledge because the five characters who were traveling with me all wanted to be in the same spot. Players can use up to eight different characters on each level during story mode, but that can lead to a crowded screen. Items can be smashed into smaller LEGO block components, and then collected for points or re-formed into another item that can be used in the game. This outing follows the typical LEGO game style with straight platform action involving sword fights, cannons and collecting "studs" - single-connection LEGO blocks. Each movie is broken down into five gaming levels. ![]() The new movie is scheduled to debut on May 20 - 10 days after the video game - so you have been appropriately warned about spoilers. The latest LEGO block video game (Disney Interactive Studios, Traveller's Tales) recounts the first three movies in the popular series and also includes the yet-to-be-released fourth film, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides." (CNN) - "LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean" holds fast to the pirate code with great humor and animation, appeal for all ages and massive replayability after the main story mode is complete. Aside from that, Albedo is an extremely intelligent figure who can calmly analyze and give ideas which Ainz probably ever thinks of.įunny thing is: Albedo extremely loves her lord Ainz. While this shows her loyalty strongly to Nazarick and especially Ainz Ooal Gown, at certain occasions Ainz had to stop her personally. She has no problem in rejecting, denouncing actions or statements which considered as inappropriate. She also seems to have the most powerful voice (only second to Momonga – Ainz Ooal Gown of course) and she tends to openly express her opinions about matters. As the Overseer of the Guardians, she is in charge of managing and supervising other 7 Guardians. Albedo was introduced as a succubus wearing pure-white silky garb with black hair and wings. The first NPC met by Momonga when he got transferred to the New World was Albedo – Overseer of the Guardians.
